Cluttered mess is lowering the efficiency of the employees and the appliances. Clean office space is more appealing to customers and the staff. So your company is organising big cleaning day? What should you wear to be able to do your tasks and to make good impression on your workplace?
- What cleaning exactly? – if you will have to climb on ladders or to step on high surfaces to clean lamps or windows think about extra equipment. Never risk unnecessary.
- Should you wear your clothes or company will give you some? – Some companies have cleaning days under special motto: “Go green” or similar and on such occasions they provide shirts or caps with it. If it’s just regular activity you use your own clothing.
- Forbidden outfits. Not that it needs pointing out but high heels and tight skirts are not just a bad idea, they are terrible idea! Big décolletage too. Don’t go with new clothes or shoes – they can be destroyed during the cleaning process.
- Trousers and t-shirt – not new but clean and ironed. This is one of the options that you have; the other is jeans, depending on your age and your company.
- No stains before the cleaning – you shouldn’t use the clothes that you wore on the last year renovation if they have paint stains, ripped parts.
- Uniform – professional office cleaners usually wear clothes that are provided by the company. But even if you are not a cleaner and the company is not paying for your clothing; think about getting cleaning uniform (not one of a French maid!). They are made of special materials that are easier for maintenance and harder for staining.
- Be careful with the cleaning fluids – some of them can cause inevitable damages on your clothes. If you are going to clean the break room and there will be a lot of fluids flowing around (sanitisers, bleach and so on), think about getting an apron from those that are thicker and with nylon fibers.
- Keyword “Comfort”. – no matter what clothes you choose, they should be comfortable, from material that allows the body to breathe, because no matter if you do upholstery cleaning; windows washing or just gather paper for recycling, this is physical work that require effort.
